OH MY. There is a new animation studio in Omaha. *IS AQUIVER*
Story Time - Ok, so on Friday I saw Coraline (in 3D!) and it was beautiful and now I want every movie to be in 3D, I don't even care how stupid the glasses look. But one of the guys who worked on the movie (Ben Vu) was there! There was a crap ton of people, so I didn't get to see him then - but on Tuesday he came to my storyboarding class and talked about making the movie, and showed up secret footages from the pre-vis department at Laika Entertainment. :DD AND AND I held in my actual hands real drawings by Henry Selick and the tiny Coraline model the artists used to gadge proportions. And I saw an animatic drawn by Vera Brosgol where young-Spink-and-Forcible were doing their acrobat thing and character designs by Chris Appelhans. IT. WAS. EPIC. Vu also showed us a few glimpses of new stuff he's working at his brand new studio in Bellevue (like ... a 20 minute drive from my house 8|||) and said he was looking for people. Looking for people, you guys. /end story
